St Nicholas Radstock: ‘counselling@radstock’

A church initiative to serve the whole community.

What is counselling?
Counselling is the activity where areas of difficulty are explored to help towards constructive change. This is within a supportive relationship that has mutually agreed (contracted) limits.   The person seeking counselling remains responsible for any choices or decisions made as a result.

Who are the Counsellors?
We are qualified Counsellors who work within the ‘code of ethics and practice’ of the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC) and/or similar professional bodies. All Counsellors receive monthly supervision from a qualified counselling supervisor.

Who is the counselling for?
It is for anyone - male, female, young, old, of any nationality, any faith or no faith – who feels that they have an area of difficulty with which they would like some help.

What about confidentiality?
All issues discussed are strictly confidential, other than with the supervisor of the counsellor who gives the same commitment to confidentiality. Records of the counselling process are available to the counsellee on request at any time.

How long will counselling last?
Each session lasts around an hour. Normally up to 6 x weekly sessions will be offered, with the possibility of further sessions as necessary (usually up to a total of 10).

Is there a charge?

An initial assessment session is free. Charges for subsequent sessions will be discussed and agreed with you during that initial session (to a maximum of £30). If circumstances change during the course of the counselling, fees can be re-negotiated. No-one will be excluded on financial grounds.
